Why the agent matters more than the brochure
Two Umrah packages can look identical on a poster and still differ in hotel distance, flight timings, support on the ground and what you pay extra for. Most problems pilgrims report come from things that were never written down. If you are searching for the best Umrah travel agent in Pune, the useful question is not who advertises most, but who puts the details in writing.
9 checks before you book
- A written itinerary. Dates, number of nights in Makkah and Madinah, and what is included each day.
- Named hotels with distance. Ask for the hotel name and the walking time to the Haram in both cities, not just "near Haram".
- Flight details. Airline, departure airport (usually Mumbai for Pune pilgrims), dates and baggage allowance.
- Visa and insurance. Confirm who applies for the visa, what insurance is included and which documents you must provide. See our Umrah visa and documents checklist.
- Sharing type. Quint (5), Quad (4), Triple (3) or Double (2). The fare quoted should say which one.
- Payment terms and receipts. The booking amount, the balance date and a receipt for every payment.
- GST and TCS. Ask whether they are included or extra, and get the answer in writing so the final bill holds no surprises.
- On-ground support. Who meets you, who you call if a transfer is late, and whether there is a local contact in Saudi Arabia.
- A visitable office and real reviews. Visit the office, check the Google Business Profile, and ask for references from families from your own area.
Red flags to walk away from
Be cautious if you are pressed to pay in full immediately, if a quote has no hotel names, if the agent will not give receipts, or if the price is far below every other quote without a clear reason such as a distant hotel or a less convenient flight.
